Joker represents one of the most enigmatic and complex characters to be perceived on a psychological level in the world of comics. Either you love it or you hate it deeply. And it is even more difficult to tell it in a few lines, so we will try to make an honest and unprejudiced analysis.

Difficult to decipher, he does not fight in the way that is expected. He lives as if he were a tightrope walker, constantly oscillating between the desire to destroy what is around him and that of self-destruction. He has a completely different perspective than the other superhero antagonists: he looks at the world from above, he despises it, he does not want to be part of it, fighting every form of authority.

He does not live like an organized criminal and with a predefined logic, on the contrary, he uses his accomplices and then gets rid of them.

The fight with Batman seems to never end: what is perceived is the desire to show him and the rest of the “good” that often good and evil are not two separate entities, but two sides of the same coin .

His slender body, unkempt hair and an unconventional color, his way of walking, are aimed at capturing the gaze and giving the character an even more unconventional and unconventional aura, so much so that for the viewer it seems to see a hypnotic dance. One could make a parallel with the sensation that Charlie Chaplin wanted to arouse when viewing his films and one could only be enchanted by the extravagant movements and facial expressions of his most famous character: Charlotte. This is what the Batman Joker points to: to be, in any case, nightmare or character that arouses hilarity, but in any case unforgettable

The costume

Every great actor and every character, especially in the world of comics, wears a mask: Joker leaves nothing to chance. His make-up, the deep scars that mark his face, to which he gives the most disparate explanations and to each person he meets, always different, does not allow the viewer to have a clear vision of who he is, except for the fact that it reveals a profound suffering behind the mime face and the mocking and disturbing attitude.

The wide jacket, the big and scruffy shoes like a clown, the vest and the shirt of extravagant and particular colors are to symbolize an idea of ​​elegance all its own, which the viewer is not right. But the most striking thing is that he would like to hide his strange, obsessive and sometimes sad eyes, but he does not do it by choice: he prefers to be judged mad by the world, instead of being part of it, as already said, preferring to create his rules and justifying his actions on the basis of the experiences of his life and his constant struggle against the clear boundary line that others have drawn between good and evil, right and wrong.
