Every late summer, the Etna village of Milo transforms into a unique stage to celebrate Etna wines. The ViniMilo Festival, now in its 45th year, is much more than a festival: it’s a journey through the aromas of Carricante, the stories of the producers, and the magic of the volcano. If you’re thinking of attending, here’s a practical guide with all the useful information.

How to get to Milo

Milo is located on the eastern slope of Etna, approximately:

30 km from Catania (40–50 minutes by car via the A18 Giarre exit)

20 km from Acireale

40 km from Taormina

🚗 By car
The most convenient option. Exiting the A18 motorway at Giarre, follow the signs for Milo. The roads are scenic but somewhat narrow: it’s best to leave early.

🚌 By Bus
During the festival, special connections are scheduled from Catania and nearby towns, often in the form of Vinobus, a shuttle service designed for those who want to taste without worrying about driving.

✈️ By Plane
From Catania Fontanarossa Airport, Milo can be reached in about 50 minutes by car or taxi.

Where to Park

The historic center is closed to traffic on the main days of the festival. Visitors can leave their cars:

in the park-and-ride areas below the town, with a free shuttle service,

along the designated areas near the main entrances.
It’s best to arrive early to avoid queues and secure a spot nearby.

Program and Activities

The program for the ViniMilo 2025 Festival (August 29 – September 14) features tastings, music, workshops, and shows. Among the most anticipated events:

The open-air wine bar with over 100 labels from Etna DOC and all of Sicily.

Isola del Gusto, a space dedicated to street food and Slow Food products.

Masterclasses and conferences: from guided tastings of Etna Bianco and Rosso to comparisons with wines from other volcanic regions.

Raise your glasses! Panoramic evenings with four themed tastings.

Shows and live music in the village squares.

Prices and bookings

Many events and shows in the square are free. Guided tastings and masterclasses, however, require an entrance fee:

Free tastings in the square: €10–20 per person

Special masterclasses: €25–40 depending on the theme

“Milo dresses Slow” dinner: approximately €45

👉 Reservations can be made on the official website vinimilo.it, or at the info point in the square during the event. It’s advisable to book online well in advance: places for guided tastings sell out quickly.

Helpful Tips

Comfortable shoes: the village is made up of narrow streets and steep hills.

A light jacket: in the evening, at almost 800 meters above sea level, the air can be cool.

Don’t drive after the tastings: it’s better to rely on the Vinobus or local transfers.

Bring time and curiosity: the festival is also an opportunity to discover the woods, vineyards, and views of Etna.

Conclusion

The ViniMilo Festival is more than just a food and wine event: it’s a community gathering, a celebration of wine culture and the identity of a region that lives in symbiosis with the volcano. If you’re passionate about good wine and want an authentic experience, mark these dates in your calendar: Milo awaits you with a raised glass.
