History of the Adrano Carnival
- The Adrano Carnival, one of the city’s most vibrant traditions located on the slopes of Mount Etna, has deep historical roots and is known for its extraordinary combination of folklore, creativity and community.
- The Origins
- The first evidence of the Carnival of Adrano dates back to the eighteenth century. Like many Sicilian carnival celebrations, also in Adrano the Carnival was born as a popular festival that preceded the Lent period, offering an opportunity to indulge in food, entertainment and shows before the rigors of religious fasting.
